Coach Training is the Doorway. Your Calling Is Bigger

I’ve worked with so many trained coaches who struggle to create a coaching business...and secretly wonder if something is wrong with them.

They watch their training cohort moving ahead, signing up clients and creating businesses, while they feel like they’re on another train entirely, headed in the wrong direction.

They start secretly believing that something is wrong with them.

It’s easy to fall into groupthink.

To believe you’re supposed to be creating a coaching business, because you took coach training.

To compare. To copy. To contort yourself just to fit in.

For some, coaching becomes the container and the form of their life’s work.

For others, coach training is just the doorway, a step on the path to their calling.

I’ve seen this repeatedly: the wringing of hands, the self-doubt, the guilt about not being able to go forward as a coach… and then the tiny idea that maybe coaching and guiding and healing others in the traditional one-on-one model, was not their path.

My clients have shifted from coach training to become therapists, death doulas, artists, psychic mediums.

Coach training was the spark not the fire.

You see, when you just can’t go forward with something you thought was your “thing,” it usually means that it isn’t your thing.

We’ve been so programmed to believe that this is resistance — that we must battle it to the ground and fight it.

But suppose this is your inner wisdom?

Suppose you can’t get going as a coach because your destiny is leading you elsewhere?

Suppose there is something else you are meant to weave in — your art, your group facilitation, your yoga, your wanderlust, your scientific problem-solving mind?

Suppose you could just make it up — invent your own title, your own way, your own work?

That would mean that nothing is wrong with you.

That would mean all you needed was to get off the wrong path and onto the right one.

Maybe your destiny isn’t guiding, coaching, or healing in the traditional sense.

Maybe it’s writing books, leading retreats, starting movements, creating work that only you could imagine.

Because your life’s work is bigger than a role. And your soul will keep nudging you until you say yes.

Coach training was the doorway.

Your life’s work is the house you’re meant to build.
